Curly Hair with no Heat?!.............Yes please!!

Good morning you lovely lot! I can’t remember the last time I used my GHD’s, I would say about 9-10 months ago was the last time. I’ve gone right off them to be honest, my hair is quite thin and if I remember right the last time I straightened it my hair looked like a limp lettuce! I am now a fan of curlers and love the bounce they give my barnet.

I saw these rollers on a You Tube video, what sold me was the fact she got her hair that curly with no heat. I’m not saying there isn’t some breakage there because my hair is a little knotty after a day like this but nothing a good brush won’t sort out!

I bought these from THIS ebay seller, they come in a pack of 14 and are Foam hair rollers. They’re £2.99 with free P+P. I have done this hairstyle with 1 pack of 14 rollers but I do have quite a lot of hair (even though it’s thin) so 14 suits me better.

Here’s how it’s done lovelies
Wash hair as normal, brush it then leave it to air dry, whilst it’s drying I’m usually making up Darren’s ♥ lunch for the next day. Then whilst your hair still has some damp in it start putting the rollers in, you may what to sort your fringe out before you do this, mine is still growing so I just leave mine out the rollers and tuck it behind my ear until is long enough to join the roller gang! Go to bed with them in, the rollers themselves are foam so really easy to sleep in and I think this is the secret to the curling, the heat from your head and the pressing against the pillow. In the morning remove all the rollers running your hands through each section then style as you wish. I clip mine on one side. Voila! Curly hair with no heat.

Here's what the rollers look like, they have a clasp and a little arm thing going on that just clip over the other side.

Velcro rollers are probably my favs for soft bouncy curls with height at the roots but I do use a big tong for that, usually when we go out. I will do a post on this soon and a video on my You Tube Channel. But for now I am loving this way of curling my hair. With a bit of dry shampoo through it the next day it still looks good, I roughly pin it up with a few loose curls hanging round the front.

Have any of you boycotted your GHD’s too? Or can’t you live without them?

Thanks for reading guys, enjoy the rest of your weekends!!

Babyliss Heated Hair Rollers

I’ve had my Babyliss heated hair rollers for a while now, I think I bought them around March last year and after watching Imogen from Foxylocksextensions on You Tube use hers with such ease I thought it would be a doddle! How wrong I was, I really thought my hair just wasn’t the right ‘type’ of hair for curling. So my rollers stayed on the side in my spare room for well over six months without being used, I never throw anything out as I believe one day they will ‘come in handy’.

Image from Google Images

Mum♥ came to stay with me for Christmas and borrowed my heated rollers, Mum♥ told me my rollers looked brand new compared to hers so I watched her work her magic and soon realised there was one vital ingrediant that I was missing! Setting Lotion! Setting Lotion was used back in the day by all the old girls who put their hair in rollers, the non heated kind. It’s not permanant or anything, it just helps the hair to set in the curl. Since Mum♥ left I've used my rollers twice and have noticed that they work better the day after washing. I just spritz a bit of Batiste Dry Shampoo all over and away I go. It does take a bit of practice but hopefully I’ll be a wizz at it like Mum♥ soon.

My heated rollers, it's best to have these set to the maximum heat setting.

Setting lotion, spray bottle, Denman brush and rat tail comb. Also here are the pins for the rollers, we prefer to use these to the hair grips that also come with the rollers because these can leave a mark.

Roll them up and over the top of your head then down the sides

and Voila!

Setting Lotin is quite easy to get hold of in Hackney there’s a fantastic Wig/Weave/Hair products shop with eveything you can imagine in. I also bought a rat tail comb and a small spray bottle. The setting lotion I bought needs diluting with water so it should last me ages! Lastly spritz with a bit of hairspray in short sharp sprays and don't fiddle with it too much.

Here are the results! This was Christmas Day before we went to dinner, me and Mum♥ spent 2 hours getting ready it was bliss!

Have any of you got these heated rollers? Have you tried it with setting lotion?

You can buy the rollers from Argos for £29.99, well worth the money. My setting lotion was £1.79 which is cheap as chips too.

The good and the bad – Dry Shampoo

Afternoon girls, did you have a good weekend? I had a lovely few days. Saturday was spent with Sister and Mother in Law's to be Christmas shopping in Greenwich then Canary Wharf, we had a lovely time, even if I did spend more money on myself and Darren ♥ than others! lol. Sunday I spent with Darren ♥ on the sofa
and then a naughty chinese in the evening! Mmmmm! On with the review.

I may be one of the minorities here but I really don’t like Umberto Giannini Morning After Dry Shampoo, I bought it purely because Lollipop26 said it was brilliant and was an invisible spray compared to the Batiste Dry Shampoo, which can leave you looking like you have grey highlights!

Now, whilst I don’t like the skunk look, the Batiste works better for me, so good, in fact I had to buy a travel sized tin the day I used Umberto Giannini because by mid morning, it looked like I didn’t have anything on and had clearly not washed my hair! Not a good look!

Meet Colin the bubba skunk!!

Cue one travel sized tin of Batiste and I was a happy bunny again! Umberto Giannini Morning After Dry Shampoo will be used for back combing only at my place! It’s twice the price of the Batiste one too and the latter comes in more styles/fragrances. Boho is my fav if you're curious.

Have any of you girlies tried the Umberto Giannini Morning After Dry Shampoo? Are you a lover or a hater?
