Molten Metal - Sleek

Hey girls, I finally got my mitts on Molten Metal by Sleek. My nearest Superdrug to work didn’t have it in for a good week or so, the SA told me to try Superdrug in Fenchurch Street station and bingo! Molten Metal is a metallic cream eyeshadow duo which consists of 2 gorgeous colours, Pewter and Gold Leaf.

Pewter on the left, Gold Leaf on the right

Sleek describes these as “Gloriously rich and highly pigmented metallic creams that ignite the skin. Soft and fluid-like, allowing an easy application on décolletage”

Every now then a drug store brand tries to rip off a higher end product, these metallic eye shadows by Sleek are very similar to the liquid metals by the much loved brand Illamasqua. Illamasqua have 2 liquid metals called Surge (Molten Pewter) and Solstice (Molten Gold) that are very similar to Molten Metal. Unfortunately I don’t have these to compare against each other, I’m just going from the pictures on the website. See image below.

As with the liquid metals by Illamasqua, Pewter and Gold Leaf from Molten Metal are prone to creasing and will need to be set with a gold/pewterish shade of eyeshadow, maybe Maui Wowie by Urban Decay. If you don’t do this you’re in trouble girls! Also with this kind of product you don’t want to use a natural hair brush, a synthetic brush is best, packing the colour on by pressing it rather than sweeping across the lid.

Look out for an F.O.T.D featuring this soon!

Did any of you manage to pick this up too? Any tips and tricks using this would be much appreciated!

Laura Mercier Metallic Crème Eye Shadow

Hi girlies, I’ve had these beauties from Laura Mercier for over a year now, I bought them in New York in Sephora in Times Square (it’s the best shop in the world!) Nic from Pixiwoo done a Nicole Sherzinger inspired look on You Tube and she used these 2 colours, you can see the video HERE. I made it my mission to buy everything she used in the video because I loved the look so much. When I tried to do the look on myself I realised I just don’t have the eye space for these colours, I have quite hooded eyes so these colours are lost on me. However, click HERE to see one of my makeover posts I done on my sister using these crème eye colours.

My thoughts – I love them! As you can see from the picture a little goes a long way, they are so soft and creamy and blend really well. I tried these colours a couple of times on myself and mixed the 2 together to get a lighter brown shade which worked well too.

Now these beauts aren’t cheap they retail at £18 each, the tubes have 8.5g of product in them but like I said a little goes a long way so you will have these for ages! I got them cheaper in the states, maybe paying £13/£14 for them instead, I didn’t save loads but it all helps. You can buy them HERE from House of Frazer online, or instore.

On the HOF website there are 4 colours available altogether, Burnished Copper, Platinum, Gold and Rose Gold. I have Burnished Copper and Platinum already but I’d quite happily add the other 2 to my collection too.

Have any of you got these too? Aren’t they lush!

I was on Boots website just browsing when I saw a banner for something called Treat Street, Treat Street is an online scheme where you receive points with other retailers to be added to your advantage card! If you’re a Boots Advantage Point saver like me then this will be music to your ears too. Below is a full list of shops taking part in it; ASOS, eBay, New Look, Apple Store, iTunes and Figleaves to name a few!! I can’t believe I haven’t found out about this sooner!

Did any of you know about this? You lucky lucky girls if you did, I have spent loads of money online with ASOS and Figleaves especially last year just before we went on our hols. I've bought so many little bits and pieces for this blog off of eBay too. I’d be an Advantage Card Points Millionaire by now if I’d known!

For more information and to shop at Treat Street click HERE and save it to your favourites! When shopping through the Treat Street link you must make sure you stay on the page, don't open up a new one and start shopping on that, you won't get your points!

Hey girls, I’m sure you’ve all heard about this amazing offer at the minute with Fabulous magazine. Fabulous is the free little magazine you get with the News of the World paper on Sundays. Collect 2 tokens (last week, yesterday and next week) and receive £24 pounds worth of Models Own make up. Also with this offer is a 25% discount when shopping online (offer valid fom 16th January to 7th February).

Darren♥ and I went shopping yesterday in Tesco, before we went I said to him I must remember to take my token from last week. Of course being the scatty moo that I am I forgot. You can imagine my excitement when there in all it’s glory were the freebies just in some bucket to take! So take I did!. No one was there to accept my tokens so nobody asked for them. I picked one up for Mum♥, Faye♥ and myself and I have to say I’m very happy with it all. The eye shadows come in a duo and are named ‘Goldie-rocks’, they are a gorgeous colour and are very pigmented as you can see from the very generous swatch below.

MAC – Tartan Tale

Hey girlies, my first day back at work was on 4th January I had an email pop into my inbox from MAC titled ‘Goodbyes’, I thought ‘it’s worth a look’ and look I did. I bought this gorgeous Smokey Thrillseekers Pigments/Glitter set from the Tartan Tale collection for £27.50 and it’s gorgeous. My dear old Nan♥ gave me a bit of money for Christmas so I used that to buy it – Thanks Nan♥. Also with this order MAC were offering free delivery by entering code GOODBYES at the checkout. It came so quick too.

My favourites are Blue Brown, Dark Soul and Jigs and Jive. At first look I thought it has to be Naked but I was a little disappointed with this, as you can see from my pics it didn’t swatch too good, maybe it would be better with a base underneath, something like Bare Study by MAC *note to self, must try this*.

Blue Brown = Love it!

Jigs and Jive = Similar to my Barry M Dazzle Dust in No 39

Dark Soul = I can't wait to rock this on my next evening out!

Each pot has 2.5 grams of product in which will last me forever! Have any of you got this set from MAC? Any tips and tricks you have with them I would be most appreciated.

To own this gorgeous set click HERE to buy.

F.O.T.D - My Mum

Hey girls, Mum♥ came to stay with me over Christmas and she kindly let me have a go at applying her make up. I used the MAC shades that I bought just before Christmas you can read my post about them HERE.

Mum♥ and I have very similar eyes in that they are roughly the same colouring and long lashes, but as Mum♥ has got older they have become a bit more sparse. Years ago when false eyelashes were all the rage Mum♥ never tried them because she didn’t need too. So after I had applied some individual lashes we decided to try a pair of my Ardell’s on Mum♥, she loved them! Very dramatic on her though, she kept them on whilst we ate dinner and watched a bit of TV. She said they felt very “false” lol. Sometimes when I apply my own lashes I can’t even feel that they’re on, but that’s on a good day. It takes a bit of practise.

The MAC e/s aren't really showing up their true colour in these pics, they look a bit pink, but Shadowy Lady is a dark matte purple. Maybe I should go darker for photos.

Liz Earle - Cleanse and Polish

Hey girls, just before Christmas I went into John Lewis on Oxford Street looking for one last present for Mum, I had just been paid so had to keep my eyes to the floor as I walked through the make up/fragrance section at the front of the store……..well I tried to anyway, when all of a sudden my eyes caught the pale green colour of Tiffany & Co, my head jerked up, my eyes took on a slanted look, like a panther on the prowl! Except it wasn’t Tiffers!! It was Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, right before my eyes, the starter kit everyone had been raving about in blogworld some months before. Suddenly it all made sense, of course Mum would love Cleanse and Polish as that last present. Hell, I would like Cleanse and Polish and what better person to try it out before she arrived…….ME!

Liz Earle website says;-
“We only make one cleanser because this formulation is the ultimate in concentrated yet gentle cleansing power and works on every age and skin type.

Our plant-based cleanser has a 2-phase action, phase 1 is the cleansing. Free from mineral oil, it has a rich and creamy texture and swiftly removes all traces of face and eye make-up, even stubborn mascara.

Phase 2 is the polishing. Polish off the cream using the pure muslin cloth to help gently dislodge dead skin cells and help reveal clean, soft and radiant skin.

Use morning and night with pure muslin cloths to reveal fresh, radiant skin.

Naturally active ingredients include eucalyptus and cocoa butter for smoother, clearer skin.

Suitable for all skin types”

How I use my Cleanse and Polish:-
• Fill sink with hand hot water, place lovely soft muslin cloth in the water.
• I use one large pump of the product on the tips of my fingers
• Massage onto dry skin including the eyes, not forgetting the neck too
• Wring out the water and softly wipe the product off your face, gently removing dead skin cells, to reveal clean, soft and radiant skin.
• Moisturise immediately, I use my new Oilatum Face Cream as recommended by Nic from Pixiwoo. (more detailed post to come).

What I love about this is you can open your eyes without worrying about the product stinging! We’ve all been there, holding our eyes shut tight with our hands out like Stevie Wonder trying to find that flannel/cloth/towel etc. Well not anymore! Open your eyes girlfriend! S’ok!!

Below are some reviews from Liz Earle Website I have to share with you.
“PLEASE, IF YOU HAVE SPOT PRONE SKIN OR EVEN MORE SEVERE ACNE THEN PLEASE TRY THIS, IT WILL HELP YOUR SKIN IN WAYS YOU CANNOT IMAGINE! I have very dry skin that a few months ago was covered in dreadful hormonal acne. I am an attractive woman who looks after my appearance and the change to my confidence and personality when the acne appeared was so dreadful that my GP was close to putting me on anti depressants. In a nut shell this has transformed my skin and the acne is virtually gone. I feel I have my life back and the joy is overwhelming, Even with my very dry skin, this, unlike every other product I have tried is just so wonderful on my skin and it has left it glowing and radiant. To actually receive compliments on my skin now is so outrageous considering what it used to look like! Give this 6 weeks, please and your skin will be transformed. I have to add that I have since started using the tonic and brightening mask, both that have enhanced my skin in a way I just never ever thought possible. Thank you Liz Earle from the bottom of my heart! I am me again and loving it!” sianfrost 18 November 2010

“I adore this product; I have been using the Liz Earle products for many years. A little while ago I used an alternative high street brand. Big mistake, my skin became dry, was not clear and bright and a few spots returned. Now returned to Liz Earle and almost instant results with clearer and brighter skin, even my husband noticed. I will not be tempted to try anything else again, I shall stick with this one as it really does make a difference. Just gorgeous products which are on my Christmas list”
Sharon Poulton 22 October 2010

Amazing huh, there's over 500 reviews for this stuff on there so if you need more recommendations you can take a look for yourselves HERE.

I have been using this product for just under 2 weeks and I’ve noticed a big difference already. No more dry flaky skin, just smooth silky skin that I want to show off! I would love to try out the Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser after my Oilatum has run out; there are loads of reviews about this moisturiser on the web. Nobody at work has noticed a difference in my skin but then they wouldn’t because I work on a building site (in the office) and most of my colleagues are men!

Not only am I fast becoming a massive Liz Earle fan, Liz Earle head office is based in Ryde on the Isle of Wight, which happens to be where my Mum and family live, where I grew up and where a lot of my friends are. This is fate, it’s meant to be!

You can buy the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Starter Kits HERE, they are £13.25 each and you will receive 100ml bottle of cleanser and 2 pure muslin cloths. They also do a 50ml starter kit for £8.45 if you wanted to try a smaller bottle before taking the plunge and falling in love!

Have any of you tried Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish? Is it your new best friend?

Babyliss Heated Hair Rollers

I’ve had my Babyliss heated hair rollers for a while now, I think I bought them around March last year and after watching Imogen from Foxylocksextensions on You Tube use hers with such ease I thought it would be a doddle! How wrong I was, I really thought my hair just wasn’t the right ‘type’ of hair for curling. So my rollers stayed on the side in my spare room for well over six months without being used, I never throw anything out as I believe one day they will ‘come in handy’.

Image from Google Images

Mum♥ came to stay with me for Christmas and borrowed my heated rollers, Mum♥ told me my rollers looked brand new compared to hers so I watched her work her magic and soon realised there was one vital ingrediant that I was missing! Setting Lotion! Setting Lotion was used back in the day by all the old girls who put their hair in rollers, the non heated kind. It’s not permanant or anything, it just helps the hair to set in the curl. Since Mum♥ left I've used my rollers twice and have noticed that they work better the day after washing. I just spritz a bit of Batiste Dry Shampoo all over and away I go. It does take a bit of practice but hopefully I’ll be a wizz at it like Mum♥ soon.

My heated rollers, it's best to have these set to the maximum heat setting.

Setting lotion, spray bottle, Denman brush and rat tail comb. Also here are the pins for the rollers, we prefer to use these to the hair grips that also come with the rollers because these can leave a mark.

Roll them up and over the top of your head then down the sides

and Voila!

Setting Lotin is quite easy to get hold of in Hackney there’s a fantastic Wig/Weave/Hair products shop with eveything you can imagine in. I also bought a rat tail comb and a small spray bottle. The setting lotion I bought needs diluting with water so it should last me ages! Lastly spritz with a bit of hairspray in short sharp sprays and don't fiddle with it too much.

Here are the results! This was Christmas Day before we went to dinner, me and Mum♥ spent 2 hours getting ready it was bliss!

Have any of you got these heated rollers? Have you tried it with setting lotion?

You can buy the rollers from Argos for £29.99, well worth the money. My setting lotion was £1.79 which is cheap as chips too.
